Four Levels of Knowledge Management
When discussing what KM is encompassing it helps to take this schema based on David Gurtneen's discussion. SKMF has adapted his model to emphasize the leadership element which is decisive on the implementation of each of the first three levels.
SKMF has compiled a series of procedures, methods and tools for each of these four levels.
1. The first level is information management, which includes LLMs, AI etc. as well
(and for many organizations this is all there is to knowledge management)
2. Knowledge sharing, knowledge transfer and access to experts
3. Creating purpose, decision-making & innovation, creativity
4. Leadership and management support, without which the top three levels cannot be successfully implemented.
This model has proven usefull together with the 3 Sphere Model when discussing the steps an organization should consider in her journey towads KM excellence.
